Srinagar, May 20 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday launched the 'Jai Hind Yatra' from Jammu, terming it a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of India's armed forces. Karra, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the yatra aims to showcase patriotism and national unity across 35 cities from May 20 to 30. Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Karra took a sharp dig at the BJP’s 'Trianga Yatra', accusing the ruling party of politicising and misusing the name of 'Operation Sindoor'. “If Trianga Yatra is being misused, it is the BJP,” Karra alleged. “They are using it to divert attention from uncomfortable questions." He said the Congress's 'Jai Hind Yatra' stands in honour of the valour of the Indian Army and is rooted in national pride, not politics. “This is not a counter to anyone. This is to salute our jawans and stand by the values of the Republic,” he said. Recalling Indira Gandhi, the JKPCC chief said the former Prime Minister never compromised on India’s dignity. “She gave her life for the honour of the nation. Today, the country is once again remembering her bravery and resolve,” he added. On India’s foreign policy, Karra said the Congress was committed to a foreign policy position against third-party intervention in India-Pakistan relations. “Any discussion with Pakistan must be bilateral. That is our stated position, and there can be no compromise on that,” he said. He said the 'Jai Hind Yatra' will witness widespread participation from Congress leaders and supporters, with events planned across the country highlighting issues of national interest and honour—(KNO)
